What is sustainable agriculture?
Sustainable agriculture strives for harmony with the natural environment, while also considering issues of human health, as well as societal and economic well-being. A sustainable farm seeks to be environmentally and socially responsible without sacrificing its ability to earn profit. Producers practicing sustainable agriculture:

Use natural methods to control pests, including beneficial insects, careful weather monitoring and scouting
- Use the least toxic pesticides when natural methods don't work
- Improve soil by methods such as crop rotation and cover crops
- Protect water resources
- Provide wildlife habitat
- Take into consideration quality of life issues for their farm workers and their communities when making daily farm management decisions
- Continually improve their farming practices to make them more economically viable, environmentally sound and socially just
